Sometimes we hear about the disadvantages of working from home, like not getting face time with your boss or coworkers, and feeling disconnected. Sometimes we hear about the benefits of working from home, like being more productive.
But there are secret benefits of working from home that no one has told you about… until now.
- Working in your pajamas.
Some work-from-home gurus tell you to “get dressed to the shoes” even if you work from home. And maybe you do – most of the time. But let’s be honest, being able to work in your pajamas every now and then is a perk!
- Set your own thermostat.
No freezing cold office in the summer or overheated office in the winter. You’re the boss! (of the thermostat, at least).
Amazon addict? No problem, you’re home for all your deliveries.
- Choose your own background noise.
Prefer working with music? Go for it – won’t bother a soul. Is silence your jam? You won’t be bothered by music or phone conversations from other cubes.
- Eating fish for lunch.
No one to complain that you stunk up the whole kitchen!
- Getting your laundry done during the work day.
Conventional wisdom says, “Don’t do that!” but I say, take a 5 minute break, pop it in, and free up your weekends for fun & family.
- Scheduling appointments.
If you work from home and have a flexible schedule, you can fit in appointments during the day from time to time and work a bit earlier or later if you need to get the hours in.
- Napping on your couch.
So much more comfy than putting your head down on your desk in your cube. (Shhh! Don’t tell my boss about this one!)
- Work from home exercise program.
Getting up to see who’s calling on the landline, then don’t answer the phone anyway. (Why do I even get up? Oh yeah, the exercise.)
- Take your pet to work day is every day.
If you need to work from home today, try one of these excuses reasons.
